The design blends the traditional Japanese <em>onsen<\/em> (hot spring) experience with the fast-paced lifestyle of New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guests are welcomed by sudden serenity, created through authentic materials and a simple composition of elements\u2014we insisted on using natural materials such as wood, ceramic tile, metal, and plaster, resisting the plastics and synthetic surfaces common in American commercial architecture. Instead of using decorative materials, we focused on enhancing the space with indirect lighting and sunlight coming through a skylight and windows.
